Branding a Calgary Pop-Up: Treats, Team Shirts, and Trusted Local Vendors

People remember the food first at a pop-up. They also remember whether your booth looked like a real business or a folding table with good luck. At Soft Bakes by KC we care about both: Filipino-inspired treats on the table and simple branded gear on the team so photos and tags are easy to find after the event.

This is how we plan merch alongside cookie boxes and limited runs like our ensaymada debut at SOHO Volume 1.

Start with what shows up in photos

Event photos catch your table layout, packaging, and what your team is wearing. We keep packaging consistent first: boxes, labels, and menu cards that match our site and Instagram. Then we add aprons or shirts so staff are recognizable in crowd shots without shouting our name at every customer.

For our SOHO night we worked with Formulated Prints on team shirts. Having a local DTF supplier that understands small runs made it easier to order what we needed without committing to a huge screen print minimum.

Match treats and merch to the same event story

If you are selling custom cookie boxes for spring showers or office thank-yous, think about whether staff should wear neutral aprons or a simple logo tee that matches your box colors. Customers notice when the table feels planned. It also helps other vendors and organizers tag the right account when they post recap photos.

What we would order again

Black or neutral garments press well and survive long market days. Small chest logos read cleaner in photos than full back designs with tiny URLs. We keep one master logo file and reuse it for shirts, stickers, and packaging so everything stays aligned.

If you run a shop or production studio, Formulated Apps wrote a practical guide to event merch and DTF gang sheets that matches what we learned on the vendor side. Their supplier checklist is useful if you are comparing transfer vendors before your next order.

Planning timeline for your next pop-up

Three weeks out: confirm menu or box offerings and garment count. Two weeks out: finalize logo placement with your print supplier. One week out: press or receive garments and pack them with your display items. Day of: lint roll, clip loose threads, and keep one spare tee in the car. After the event, note what sold out and what appeared most in tagged photos so the next booking is easier.

Thank you to Formulated Prints for supporting our team gear, and to every Calgary organizer and vendor who makes community nights like SOHO possible. Follow us for the next pop-up and cookie box openings.
